Though REI is not in the middle of any special kind of sale, the retailer just marked down a ton of Patagonia gear, likely to coincide with the brand's winter clearance event. It's a rare treat—Patagonia deals don't come around often—and one thing Men's Journal has found is that some of the best deals are on the brand's fleece layers. 

While the deals aren't tagged with an end date, most are likely to sell through fast, especially bestsellers like the Synchilla Snap-T Pullover, which starts at just $97, and newer hits, like the R1 Fleece. There's a lot to comb through, but after shopping REI's deals on Patagonia fleece, we found four picks we can’t wait to add to our cart.

The RI Fleece Jacket is more of a technical layer, with a sleeker, modern cut that is on the slim side. It's still extremely versatile for mild-weather days and can go from the trails to running errands around town quite well. Even though it has a slimmer fit, it contains up to 7% spandex, which means it has excellent flex compared to fleece jackets made of just polyester. This is for guys who want something lighter, easily packable, and more on the sporty side.

Patagonia Better Sweater Fleece Jacket, From $111 (was $159) at REI

The Better Sweater may be one of the coziest fleece jackets Patagonia makes, and that’s saying a lot. This one is a medium-weight fleece that opts for a more modern, fitted look, but it's been designed in a way that doesn't restrict movement. It has zippered hand pockets and a vertical zippered chest pocket for your phone, has a stand-up collar, and has soft added trim at the hem and cuffs to increase longevity. This fleece is sharp enough to even wear to the office, too.

Patagonia Lightweight Synchilla Snap-T Fleece Pullover, From $97 (was $139) at REI

The Synchilla Snap-T, in our opinion, is the brand’s most famous kind of fleece. The midweight material is a fantastic choice for excellent warmth on milder, yet still chilly, days. The fleece itself is 13.2 ounces and velvety soft against the skin, and the pullover features a more relaxed, traditional fit. This is the ideal fleece for commuting, travel days, hitting the trails in early spring, and looks great on the weekends.

Patagonia Classic Retro-X Fleece Jacket, From $174 (was $249) at REI

Another iconic fleece jacket from Patagonia, the Classic Retro-X is a modern take on its heritage classic quarter-inch pile fleece. The warmest on our list of fleece jackets, it does a fantastic job at stopping the wind and features a hardy 1.6-pound construction that’s reinforced, so it'll last for years. It has a slightly fitted, yet still relaxed shape that can work great by itself, or under a winter coat for layering. It breathes well and has the classic nylon chest pocket for that well-known contrasted look against the pile. Wear it on the trails, traveling, casual outfits, and running errands.
