McDonald’s High-Protein Menu: These Items Pack 15 Grams or More
Now that there is more interest in protein-rich foods than at any time before, everyone from gym regulars to everyday diners finds themselves tracking their grams. For those who want to boost their intake without abandoning fast food, there are some familiar orders that many people don't realize fit the bill. For example, there are several McDonald's menu items that contain more than 15 grams of protein.

According to McDonald's, the company sells more than 30 menu items that offer 15 grams or more of protein. In fact, several popular products contain far more than most people realize.
It turns out the McDonald's chicken dishes are a great source of protein. Most notably, a 10-piece order of Chicken McNuggets contains 23 grams, three McCrispy Strips have 30 grams, and a Snack Wrap has 17 grams. Some of McDonald's sandwiches are also highlighted as options, including the Filet-O-Fish, which features 16 grams, and the McDouble, since it contains 22 grams. In terms of the breakfast menu, the Egg McMuffin packs 17 grams.

For McDonald's, it makes perfect sense to highlight its menu options that are high in protein, as many people are seeking to add more of it to their diets. The International Food Information Council 2024 Food & Health Survey found that 71% of U.S. consumers were actively looking for options to increase their protein intake. It also linked that trend to many people taking GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy. Using those medications leads many to alter what they eat and search for nutrient-dense food that can provide what their bodies need when eaten in smaller amounts.
On top of the intense interest in the diet, there is another reason why it is wise for McDonald's to tell its customers about the company's high-protein menu items. According to the American Heart Association's Recommended Dietary Allowance, as reported on by the Harvard Health Publishing, people should consume 0.36 grams of protein daily for every pound that they weigh. While that may not seem like it would add up quickly, it actually can. For example, a man who weighs 180 pounds should take in 64.8 grams of protein daily based on that.
