Two WWE Superstars Get Surgery for Injuries, May Miss 'WrestleMania 42'
A real-life injury may affect the fate of one WWE Superstar, as Wrestlemania 42 looms.
Wrestling reporting legend Dave Meltzer reported that Bron Breakker recently underwent emergency hernia surgery. The result of this unplanned hitch in WWE storyline could cost the wrestler his slot at wrestling's biggest annual event.
"Bron Breakker underwent emergency surgery this past week due to a hernia. Nothing has been said about a timeline for his return and most of the details have been kept under wraps," Meltzer wrote in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The seriousness of the injury, as well as the longevity of his recovery period, are being shrouded in secrecy.
"But when we first heard about it, it was said that the WrestleMania match with Seth Rollins was in jeopardy and that match was meant to be the third biggest match of the weekend.”
WrestleMania 42, WWE's flagship championship event, is set for April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium, in Las Vegas. Breakker is scheduled to face off against rival Seth Rollins in the third top-billed fight of the event.
Rollins himself is also on the road to recovery, following an injury to the rotator cuff during the Crown Jewel event back in October. The fellow WWE Superstar also required surgery and was forced to sit out the World Heavyweight Championship.
However, in an update in the latest edition of his Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer shared some (hopefully) positive news.
“Rollins and Breakker are both said to be rehabbing their asses off to get back as soon as they can,” he wrote. He neglected to include any solid details regarding how likely they are to return, other than a more optimistic outlook.
Should Rollins recover first, and Breakker is still on a time out, Big Bronson Reed has been touted as a potential replacement for the 28-year-old. As shown in one of Seth's most recent fights, Ronson has his own business to finish with Rollins.
