McDonald's Brings Back Beloved Menu Item

0 2

As February winds down, there's a feeling of spring in the air, and on Tuesday, Feb. 17, McDonald's announced the return of a beloved menu item that's a seasonal favorite.

Yes, McDonald's has official brought back its Shamrock Shake. The classic shake returned to its menu on Tuesday, as well as the newer Oreo Shamrock McFlurry.

What's in the McDonald's Shamrock Shake for 2026?

As for the what makes up the item, the Shamrock Shake is "made with our classic vanilla soft serve, blended with Shamrock syrup and topped with whipped cream, offers the perfect pairing," the company said in a statement. The Oreo Shamrock McFlurry "combines our classic vanilla soft serve with Shamrock syrup and Oreo cookie pieces mixed in."

"Whether you’re feeling lucky or craving something refreshing, these seasonal favorites won't be around forever," the company adds. "Catch them before they vanish like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow."

So, how long do the Shamrock Shakes last? The release didn't include an end date for Shamrock Shake sales. So, get them while you can.

The shakes are available in small, medium and large sizes. There are 500 calories in a small Shamrock Shake, 540 calories in a medium and 800 in a large, according to McDonald's nutritional research. To save on the calories, asl for it without whipped cream.

McDonald's Treat is for a Good Cause

Note that with each Shamrock Shake sold, 25 cents will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities, to help families get access to health care and other resources.

"We believe in supporting families around the world and helping them access the medical care and resources they need," the Ronald McDonald House shared on their official website, adding their "mission begins to provide better outcomes for families with children who are sick in the U.S."

The Shamrock Shake was created in 1967 by Hal Rosen, a Connecticut McDonald's Owner and Operator, according to the company, "who made the delicious, mint shake in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. It later debuted in select locations across the U.S. in 1970, and was an instant success."

From personal experience, these sell out quickly, especially as St. Patrick's Day gets closer. So, plan accordingly, and you may even want to call your local McDonald's location to confirm availability.
