Steve Perry Shuts Down Rumors That He'll Join the 'Journey' Farewell Tour
Despite recent buzz, Steve Perry isn’t returning to Journey. The former frontman of the iconic rock band took to X Thursday to put speculation to rest.
"While I'm always grateful for the love people still have for Journey, the rumors about me rejoining the band are simply not true, and I want to gently put them to rest," Perry wrote.
The singer-songwriter added that he understands why fans might hope for a reunion, given the enduring popularity of the music he helped create. "I completely understand why people would hope for that. The music we created together means a great deal to me too. But I'm continuing to explore new creative work and really enjoy working on new music that reflects where I am now."

Journey, formed in 1973 and best known for hits like “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Open Arms,” “Separate Ways,” and “Faithfully,” is gearing up for its Final Frontier Tour across North America. Fans had speculated that Perry might join the tour after band members, including keyboardist Jonathan Cain, suggested he was welcome to appear at any stop.
Apparently 'Not Saying No' Isn't Saying Yes Either
Cain had previously told Ultimate Classic Rock's Gary Graff that Perry “didn’t say no” to a possible reunion. But Perry’s statement makes it clear: fans will have to enjoy the band’s current lineup, led by long-time singer Arnel Pineda.
Journey was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 and continues to celebrate decades of hits on stage. While Perry is focusing on new music, the band’s farewell tour promises a final round of performances for legions of fans across North America.
