When Does Team USA Play Sweden in the US Men’s Hockey Quarterfinals?
The 2026 Winter Olympics have been rather eventful for the United States. While Chloe Kim once again demonstrated why she’s one of the best snowboarders in the world, claiming a silver medal in the women’s snowboarding halfpipe event, Lindsey Vonn was dealt a devastating blow in the Winter Games. Vonn suffered a horrific crash that ended her ability to compete. And who can forget the unfortunate outcome of the Men’s Free Skate Final? Ilia Malinin, the self-proclaimed “Quad God,” was expected to win the gold with ease, but didn’t even make the podium. Will the US Men’s Hockey team again deliver an unfortunate surprise with their upcoming quarterfinal match against Sweden, or will they skate into the semifinals?
Now, according to Prize Picks, Team USA enters the game as the “1.5-goal favorites,” as Sweden is seen as the underdog. However, given how Sweden destroyed Latvia, 5-1, in the qualifier matchup, Sweden shouldn’t be taken for granted. So, when does Team USA faceoff against Sweden?

Team USA faces off with Sweden on Wednesday, February 18, at 3:10 pm ET. You can catch the matchup on traditional cable/satellite television on USA Network, or you can stream it on Peacock and NBCOlympics.com. For many in the US, that’s during traditional work hours, so don’t forget you can watch the match when you get off the clock on Peacock at your leisure.
Is Team USA Expected to Win the Gold?
The USA isn’t expected to claim gold at all. In fact, according to CBS Sports, Canada “is the overwhelming favorite to claim its record 10th Olympic gold medal.” With that being said, this isn’t necessarily a Miracle on Ice situation. Team USA getting to the top of the podium isn’t a crazy longshot. With superstar player Auston Matthews leading the way, the team has what it takes to pull an upset.
Now, depending on how the brackets ultimately shake out after today’s matches, it would be quite iconic if the men’s final is actually between Team USA and Team Canada, as that’s exactly how it’s playing out on the women’s side of things.
