Savannah Guthrie's 'Today' Colleagues Honored Her Mom Wednesday
Savannah Guthrie's Today colleagues had her and her missing mom Nancy on their minds during Wednesday morning's episode.
The set of the NBC show was decorated with bouquets of yellow roses, while hosts Hoda Kotb, Craig Melvin and Carson Daly wore yellow ribbons in honor of Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing since Feb. 1.
"We’re all wearing ribbons as we send our love to Savannah and her family," Kotb said.
'This is our missing mom'
The search for Guthrie is now in its 18th day. With friends and neighbors already placing yellow flowers near the 84-year-old's home in Tucson, Arizona as a sign of support, Today elected to do the same this morning.
"I think we articulated it yesterday for the national collective — this is our missing mom," Daly said. "And this is a nice symbol."
Melvin added that "we remain hopeful" that Guthrie will be found safe. On Sunday night, Savannah Guthrie sent a plea to her mother's kidnappers, asking for her safe return.
“It’s never too late and you’re not lost or alone,” she said. “It is never too late to do the right thing. We are here. We believe, and we believe in the essential goodness of every human being. And it’s never too late.”
Glove DNA testing produces no database hits
On Tuesday, the Pima County Sheriff's Department announced that DNA testing on a glove found in a field approximately two miles from Nancy Guthrie's home did not produce any matches in the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), the FBI’s national DNA database.
“DNA evidence from gloves found approximately 2 miles from Nancy Guthrie’s residence was submitted to CODIS & produced no matches,” the statement says. “There is additional DNA evidence that was found at the residence that is also being analyzed.”
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said 400 investigators continue to work the case, and they are chasing down "thousands" of leads and tips.
“We’re not going to give up. We’re going to find Nancy, and we’re going to find out who did this," Nanos told NBC News.
