Robert Duvall's Cause of Death: What We Know So Far
Award-winning actor Robert Duvall has died. He was 95. His wife Luciana confirmed via social media.
“To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything. His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court,” she added. “For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented. In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all. “
Best Known Roles
Duvall is known for his roles in The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, Falling Down, and True Grit, alongside John Wayne.
Previous Men's Journal Interview
In a previous interview with Men’s Journal, Duvall was asked what skill he wanted to master.
“Jumping horses. Though I do have one of the better seats on a horse in Hollywood. When John Wayne and I charge at each other across the clearing in True Grit, that’s all me. Now, John Wayne on those close-ups, they had a two-by-four and a pickup truck that he sat on.”
He was also asked about his greatest adventure and how it changed his life.
"A lot of things changed my life. One of the bigger ones was when I went down to Argentina 11 years ago to play Adolf Eichmann in a TV movie. I was wandering down the street in the afternoon, when Buenos Aires is empty, looking for something to take to a party. The flower shop was closed, so I was walking to the bakery and a woman approached me and we started talking, though she didn’t understand too good English. One thing led to another, and now we’ve been married for two years."
Working with Francis Ford Coppola
He also starred in lesser-known movies, including The Rain People, written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, who he worked with on other movies like the icon The Godfather.
