NBA Issues Suspensions for Wild Hornets-Pistons Brawl
Multiple players have been suspended after taking part in a wild brawl during an NBA game this week.
During Monday night's game between the Charlotte Hornets and Detroit Pistons, the brawl began when Hornets player Moussa Diabate fouled Pistons center Jalen Duren in the third quarter. Duren took exception to the foul and the two players butted heads, leading to Duren pushing his hand into Diabate's face.
As the two players were separated, Hornets forward Miles Bridges got involved by defending Diabate. Pistons center Isaiah Stewart then ran from the bench to confront Bridges, punching him multiple times as they wrestled with one another.

League Determines Suspensions for Brawl
On Wednesday, the NBA issued suspensions for Bridges, Duren, Stewart and Diabate. Duren, selected as an All-Star for the first time in his career this season, will serve a two-game suspension.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Duren will be able to participate in Sunday's All-Star Game. He will begin to serve his suspension on Thursday when the Pistons play the Toronto Raptors.
Stewart was suspended for seven games, with the league categorizing his actions as "leaving the bench area, aggressively entering an on-court altercation, and fighting." His suspension was extended partly due to his history of similar incidents in the past, including an incident against the Los Angeles Lakers in 2021.
Bridges and Diabate were each suspended four games by the NBA for their roles in the altercation, and they were each given more games than Duren for escalating the incident.
Players Fined In Addition to Suspensions
Each player also received a fine from the NBA in addition to the suspensions. Stewart received the largest fine at $724,138, while Bridges was fined $689,655. Duren was fined $89,423, and Diabate received a fine of $62,641.
"Emotions were flaring," Duren said on Monday night, calling the matchup between the two teams an "overly competitive game."
"At the end of the day, we would love to keep it basketball, but things happen. Everybody was just playing hard."
Bridges apologized to Hornets fans and the organization on social media Monday night for his role in the brawl, but stated that he intended to "protect [his] teammates forever."
The Pistons won the game on Monday, ending a nine-game winning streak for Charlotte. Detroit currently holds the best record in the NBA's Eastern Conference, while the Hornets hold the 10th spot in the East - the final spot in the annual Play-In Tournament.
