Netflix Show With Huge Cult Following is Leaving Streaming Very Soon

0 1

Netflix USA will be removing a popular Japanese psychological thriller, Re:Mind, from its lineup later this week. The show has a devoted cult following and has been widely praised for its dark, original storytelling.

Re:Mind will be leaving Netflix on Sunday, February 15 due to declining viewership and an expiring contract with Japanese broadcaster TV Tokyo.

What Is Re:Mind About?

Re:Mind centers around a group of Japanese high school classmates who awake to find themselves shackled to an ornate dining table and must figure out who brought them there and, more importantly, how to escape. They soon realize that they are all somehow related to another classmate of theirs who went missing several months ago.

Den of Geek called Re:Mind "sweet, sweet binge fodder for mystery junkies". While the show never broke onto Netflix's international charts and remained an underground hit for the streamer, it has a cult following who will be sad to see the show leave the platform.

The show consists of thirteen 30-minute long episodes, with the central mystery developing slowly as the characters learn more about their connection to their missing classmate. It's an incredibly bingeable show that rewards viewers who like to guess along as the plot unravels.

Thankfully, new audiences still have a few days to get through Re:Mind before the show disappears from Netflix this weekend. The streamer hasn't given any confirmation about where (if anywhere) the show is heading next, and it was produced by Netflix and marketed as a Netflix original.

It's possible that Tokyo TV will find somewhere to keep Re:Mind on streaming, but less likely that it will be available to international audiences. This means it could be the last time viewers in the U.S. get the chance to watch this popular cult project
