Dallas Cowboys' 'No. 1 Superfan' Dies at 82
America's Team is mourning the loss of its self-proclaimed "No. 1." Dallas Cowboys superfan Carolyn Mopping Price died Monday at the age of 82 after a battle with cancer, her family confirmed.
A diehard Cowboys fan since the 1960s, Price was a fixture at games and training camp practices for decades, developing a relationship with owner Jerry Jones and various players and coaches and becoming well-known throughout the team's extensive fanbase.
Cowboys family pays tribute to 'Ms. Price'
News of Price's passing circulated widely on social media, with Dallas players, fans and media members memorializing the beloved fan.
"Saddened by the news of Miss Price. Cowboys Nation will truly miss your presence but your spirit will forever live on! Condolences to the family," said current Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown.
"My sincere condolences to the family of Cowboys Super Fan Mrs. Carolyn Price, who lost her battle with cancer," longtime Cowboys writer Clarence Hill wrote. "She was close with Jerry and Gene Jones. Cowboys players remember her screaming their names at training camp."
"God bless Ms. Price, the most vocal and devoted #Cowboys fan I’ve ever known. She was one of a kind," added Ed Werder, another longtime media member.
"Rest In Peace Ms. Carolyn Mopping Price," wrote Cowboys fan Brandon Murray on Facebook. "I had the pleasure of meeting her back in 2022 at a Cowboys home game. One of those encounters you don’t forget….warm spirit, genuine smile, and such a kind presence. Even in a brief moment, she left an impression on me. Sending love and prayers to her family and everyone who loved her."
"You will be truly missed," another fan added.
Price relished her role as superfan
Over the years, Price became something of a minor celebrity among Dallas fans, many of whom went out of their way to meet her at games or practices.
“It’s so much fun and I’m amazed when I step off somewhere and just total strangers, they say, ‘Are you Miss Price?’ and I say, ‘Yes,’” she told NBC DFW in 2022.
Her presence and voice will certainly be missed this fall.
