Tiger Woods' Sun Day Red Debuts First Light Collection Ahead of The Genesis Invitational

0 2

Nearly two years to the day that he launched Sun Day Red in conjunction with TaylorMade, Tiger Woods has dropped a new collection from his apparel line ahead of next weekend's Genesis Invitational (Feb. 19-22), highlighted by a polo shirt styled after one from Tiger's 1996 wardrobe.

"The First Light Collection is about starting strong," said Caje Moye, Sun Day Red's Senior Director, Product Design, in a press release. "California is where people come to chase what others call impossible. That mindset shapes this collection. The blues and yellows come from the landscape—Pacific blue, golden hills. We built each piece for performance when it matters."

The Elite Polo headlines new collection

Based on a famous shirt Woods wore in 1996, the year he turned pro and won the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award, the Elite Polo (93% Full Dull Poly, 7% Stretch material) is the focal point of the First Light Collection.

The shirt has a "Heritage Classic fit" silhouette and a structured soft Heritage collar with integrated collar stay to help it "maintain its shape throughout the round."

Other features include three genuine pearl buttons and Tiger's trademark chest logo.

Woods working his way back

While Tiger is hosting The Genesis Invitational at The Riviera Country Club in California next weekend, he won't be playing in the annual event.

The 50-year-old PGA Tour star is working his way back from Lumbar disc replacement surgery in October and last year's torn Achilles tendon. Woods has been in public recently supporting his Jupiter Links teammates at TGL matches, but told reporters at a recent event that he needs "some time" to be able to play himself.

"Playing here? I don't know," Woods said, via Golfweek. "I like watching these guys. As far as competitive golf, it's still some time."

Woods previously bowed out of last year's Genesis Invitational following the death of his mother Kultida.
