Musician Drops Out of Super Bowl Performance Last Minute, Replaced by Zach Bryan
A headlining act for Super Bowl LX has unexpectedly had to ditch the planned performance at the last minute, leading country star Zach Bryan to take his slot at short notice.
Singer Luke Combswas meant to appear at the pre-game EA Sports' Madden Bowl on Friday, taking place at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California.
However, family reasons meant that Luke had to drop out on very short notice, according to a new statement from EA Sports.
"Update: Luke has to hold it down at home with a new one on the way," EA Sports officials wrote on Instagram. "All love for Luke and his family - and we can't wait to put on an unforgettable #MaddenBowl with @zachlanebryan leading an incredible night of music and football for the fans.”
Zach performed at the Madden Bowl alongside acts such as Teddy Swims, Stephen Wilson jr., Gavin Adcock, and rapper LaRussell.
Luke Combs and his wife, Nicole Hocking, are expecting their third child together. They have two sons, born in 2022 and 2023. Combs confirmed his exit from the show on Instagram stories, with a brief apology statement.
“So sorry to miss y’all at Madden Bowl, but family always comes first,” he wrote. “Have a great time.”
Occurring during Super Bowl LX week, the Madden Bowl places elite competitors alongside the sport's biggest cultural stage," according to EA Sports' official description. "The result is a new chapter of football storytelling—one driven by competition, mastery, and global community."
According to EA, the musical acts will provide "a high-energy celebration bringing fans, music, and football together under one roof."
This weekend's party, the statement continues, includes "the official Media Welcome Party, the Madden NFL Super Bowl Prediction, live esports competition featuring the world’s top Madden NFL 26 players, and athlete and creator content across Super Bowl LX Opening Night, NFL Honors, and the NFL Media Center. Together, these moments give fans more ways than ever to experience Super Bowl LX."
