'The White Lotus' Producer Taps BLACKPINK's Lisa for Netflix Rom-Com

BLACKPINK's Lisa will be back on screen after her acting debut in the third season of The White Lotus. This time, she'll take on a starring role in a romantic comedy.

Lisa will partner withThe White Lotus executive producer David Bernad and Set It Up writer Katie Silberman for the new project, which will stream on Netflix. The rapper will also take on an executive producer role.

Netflix Project Inspired By 'Notting Hill'

While the official logline remains under wraps, Deadline reports that sources close to the project say Bernad and Lisa developed the premise while on set for The White Lotus.

The two reportedly bonded over their shared appreciation for Notting Hill, the beloved 1999 romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.

The film follows London bookstore owner William Thacker, who becomes romantically entangled with famous American actress Anna Scott. Their chance encounter leads to a whirlwind romance, where they grapple with the question of whether their two very different lives can converge in the name of love.

Notting Hill received three Golden Globe nominations, including Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy, with Roberts and Grant each earning nods for Best Performance in a Musical or Comedy.

This Marks Lisa's Third Acting Credit

Lisa is currently filming Tygo, a film set in the Extraction universe created by the Russo brothers.

The film follows a former child soldier turned mercenary, played by South Korean actor Don Lee, who launches a revenge mission through Korea’s criminal underworld after an operation goes awry, according to Variety.

Lisa will portray Lia, a woman considered family to Tygo. When she is kidnapped by a criminal organization, it sets off Tygo’s violent rampage.

“I’m so honored to be a part of this project and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such incredible actors," Lisa told Variety. "Being in an action movie has always been a dream of mine, so for my film debut to be such an exciting project feels very special.”

The film also stars South Korean actor Lee Jin-wook and will be directed by Lee Sang-yong, who helmed the popular action-comedy The Roundup series. The film is set in South Korea.

Lisa recently wrapped a seven-month global Deadline tour with BLACKPINK, ahead of the group’s upcoming third mini-album release, also titled Deadline.
