Watch Jason Momoa Shred an Oasis Deep Cut Live at Surprise Concert

0 3

Jason Momoa might be best known as an all-around badass action actor, or, depending on a mood, an enthusiastic collector of motorcycles. But did you know he's a killer bass player too? Momoa's band, ÖOF TATATÁ, which consists of himself, Kenny Dale Borill and Mike Hayes has been playing gigs large and small since 2024. And recently while in Manchester, England, Momoa shredded a song that Oasis fans have loved since the year 2000.

While promoting his Meili Vodka in the U.K., last week, Momoa has popped up with is band at a handful of venues, including one in Manchester. And on Sunday, Janaury 31, he launched into a cover of an Oasis track that he claimed he and his band "had just learned." Fan videos of the gig poppped up on social media a few days later.

The song in question is an interesting Oasis deep-cut, insofar as its not one the band's tracks with any lead vocals from either Noel or Liam Gallagher. Instead, "Fuckin' in the Bushes" was the lead, bass-driven track from the band's 2000 album Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. As a bass player himself, it makes sense that Momoa would love this track as it truly highlights the bass guitar as the central instrument. While Oasis had recently drafted then-new bass player Andy Bell in 2000, the actual track features bass guitar from the band's lead songwriter and guitarist, Noel Gallagher. (Who, incidentally, has just been named Songwriter of the Year by the 2026 Brit Awards.)

"Fuckin' in the Bushes" isn't a song Oasis plays live, generally speaking, though a recording of the album version of the song has been the band's walk-on music since the year 2000, and played promintenly as the band took the stage at each of their historic 2025 reunion tour gigs. The song contains voice samples from a film called Message to Love - Isle of Wight 1970, which was a documentary about a massive, and historically chaotic, musical festivall called "Message of Love."

Momoa said that that song was "for Manchester" and noted that his band had "just learned it."

Historically, Momoa has been friendly with Noel Gallagher, appearing with the rock star at a 2019 Louis Vuitton party. Is there any chance Momoa will play with Oasis at a future concert date? It seems unlikely, but one can only dream.

Jason Momoa's latest action flick, The Wrecking Crew streams on Prime Video.
