Original 'Jurassic Park' Cast Reunites for Hilarious Super Bowl Ad

Jurassic Park actors Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum have reunited for a Super Bowl commercial directed by Taika Waititi.

The spot imagines how Steven Spielberg's JurassicPark could have ended if the park had XFinity Wi-Fi and the T-Rex had never escaped. Neill, Dern, and Goldblum are all digitally de-aged in the commercial to reprise their roles from over thirty years ago.

Taika Waititi Gives 'Jurassic Park' A Happy Ending

Aptly titled "Jurassic Park...Works", the Super Bowl commercial sees the film's heroes Alan Grant, Ellie Settler, and Ian Malcolm take a leisurely trip to Jurassic Park without the doom and gloom of the original film. There's fairground rides, all-you-can-eat buffets, and even a waterpark—and not a velociraptor in sight.

The story kicks off with an XFinity engineer quickly fitting the park with new Wi-FI and preventing the electrical outage that allows the T-Rex to escape at the beginning of the film, delivering the perfect day out that Richard Attenborough's eccentric scientist Dr. John Hammond envisioned.

"That could have been bad", Dern's character jokes, before the trio is whisked away for the perfect day out.

The commercial also features John Williams' iconic musical score, recapturing the spirit of the original movie and using VFX from the same company (Industrial Light & Magic) to maintain that same sense of classic movie magic.

Universal's Chief Brand Officer, David O'Connor, spoke about how the commercial came about: "Bringing Jurassic Park back to life for this campaign has been an extraordinary collaboration across Comcast NBCUniversal [...] For more than three decades, the franchise has captured the imagination of audiences around the world, and this partnership with Xfinity allows fans to experience that world in a completely fresh way."

"By combining the timeless characters and iconic moments of the original film with modern technology, we’re celebrating the legacy of Jurassic Park while introducing it to a new generation," he finished.

NBCUniversal will also have a series of Jurassic Park-themed events around San Francisco in the coming months, including promotional activities at the Hobart Building, velociraptors roaming the city's streets, and even exclusive Lyft rides themed around the Jurassic Park off-roaders.
