The NFL Has Confirmed 7 International Games for 2026
The NFL is America's game, the most popular league in the most popular sport in the country. Throughout commissioner Roger Goodell's two decades in power, the NFL has also widely expanded its international series in an effort to grow the game--and its profit margins--as much as possible abroad.
So far, there are seven confirmed international games on the books for 2026, including a return to Madrid, Spain, which the NFL announced on Monday morning.
Madrid now a 'multi-year' NFL destination
The NFL held its first-ever game in Spain this past season, with the Miami Dolphins beating the Washington Commanders 16-13 in overtime at Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid back on November 16.
Monday morning, the league announced it has reached a "multi-year" agreement to play regular season games at Bernabéu, home of legendary soccer club Real Madrid, beginning with the 2026 season.
The NFL is also planning on expanding its flag football program throughout Spain after launching it in the country in 2024.
"The 2025 NFL Madrid game at the Bernabéu was a pivotal moment for the sport in Spain, and we are delighted to confirm that we will return to play a regular season game in 2026 in a multi-year partnership with the City of Madrid, Comunidad de Madrid and Real Madrid C.F.," said NFL Spain Country Manager Rafa De Los Santos. "This multi-year commitment to playing games in Madrid -- a world-class global cultural and sporting destination -- underlines our commitment to the market and enables us to continue to engage fans year-round and invest long-term in initiatives like NFL Flag and youth participation nationwide."
All confirmed 2026 NFL international games
In 2025, the NFL played seven international contests: three in England and one each in Brazil, Germany, Ireland and Spain.
In 2026, the league will return to all of those countries except for Ireland, while also expanding its reach into Australia for the first time. The NFL will also reportedly play its first-ever game in France, featuring the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints, though that matchup has not been confirmed yet.
Here are the seven NFL overseas games that have been officially announced for 2026. In some cases, participating teams have been revealed.
- Three games in London, England
- One at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- One at Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid Spain
- One at Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia, with the Los Angeles Rams as one of the participating teams
- One at FC Bayern Munich Arena in Munich, Germany
The entire 2026 NFL regular season schedule will be announced later this spring.
