Olympian Sha'Carri Richardson Arrested and Booked on Speeding Charges of Over 100 MPH
Olympic gold medalists Sha'Carri Richardson and Christian Coleman were stopped and arrested by officers in Florida Thursday on a litany of charges between the pair.
Richardson, 25, was arrested and accused of driving over 100 MPH. She was booked into the Orange County Jail, and her bond was set at $500. Coleman, 29, who was traveling in a separate car, was also arrested for being in possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting during the stop.
Per TMZ, the pair were driving north on State Road 429 in Winter Garden, Florida, near noon when they were stopped. The outlet also noted that officers said the car the pair was traveling in was "riving dangerously, tailgating and passing other vehicles" and also "appeared to be flashing its lights at other cars."
Sha'Carri Richardson Blamed Her Behavior on a Deflated Back Tire
According to authorities, Richardson initially said she was driving erratically due to a deflated back tire, TMZ noted. She further claimed that she had inadvertently changed settings on the car with her phone, and was unsure how to change them back.
Coleman arrived on the scene in a black Jeep while Richardson was speaking to authorities. According to the outlet, the track and field star initially waited beside his car, but then approached police — who told him to stay by his own car. At one point, Coleman appeared to no longer comply with orders from police, who found a "glass smoking device" in his vehicle.

Richardson, a gold medalist in track and field, is considered one of the fastest women in the world. She won the silver medal in the 100 meters and the gold medal in the 4x100 relay at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
She has also had several run-ins with the law. In August she was arrested for a a fourth-degree domestic violence offense on allegations of assaulting her boyfriend at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Coleman did not press charges.
Richardson issued an apology on social media after the incident in which she said,
"I love him & to him I can’t apologize enough" before she added that her apology "should be just as loud" as her actions.
