The Most Streamed Show of 2025 Is the One Your Kid’s Watching
Netflix viewers binged just under 40 billion hours of Stranger Thingsin 2025, but even that was not enough to out-stream everyone’s favorite blue heeler.
Nielsen released its latest roundup of yearly streaming ratings, and Bluey—the beloved animated Australian children’s series about a cattle dog and his family—took the top spot for the second year in a row.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bluey racked up a whopping 45.2 billion minutes of viewing time on its home at Disney+. The Peabody Award-winning series, which is aimed at preschoolers—but has gotten older kids and even their parents hooked, too—held the number one spot for 2024, too, with an even larger 57.7 billion minutes streamed.
On the whole, however, streaming was up 19 percent year-over-year.
Grey’s Anatomylanded the second spot for the second year in a row, too; from 47.85 billion minutes in 2024 to 40.92 billion minutes in 2025.
Stranger Thingscame in third, with 41 episodes of the show bringing in 39.95 billion streaming minutes. But that number is slightly skewed: Nielsen’s totals are for the viewing period between December 30, 2024 and December 28, 2025. While Stranger Things’ fifth and final season dropped on November 26, the series finale didn’t arrive until December 31st, meaning its viewership was not included in the final tally.
While HBO Max’s The Pittdidn’t make the top 10, Nielsen dubbed it the biggest new streaming success story with its 11.4 billion minutes.
Nielsen also paid tribute to Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, whose long-running animated series, which is now in its 24th season, was awarded the brand’s “Streaming Icon” title for the 60-plus billion minutes of streaming time his TV shows and films accrued last year.
“I want to thank Nielsen for this Streaming Icon Award,” MacFarlane said in a statement. “It’s a high honor to receive the first prize in show business that isn’t determined by quality.”
