Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Receives NFL Postseason Honor

0 5

Shedeur Sanders' rookie season in the NFL began with a massive slide to the fifth round of the draft. It will end with an appearance in the NFL's Pro Bowl Games.

According to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz, Sanders will be a participant in this year's Pro Bowl, where he'll join some of the league's best players.

Sanders is set to replace New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, who advanced to the Super Bowl with his team on Sunday afternoon.

Sanders started the final seven games of the regular season for the Browns, throwing for 1,400 yards with 7 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions. He also ran for a touchdown and picked up 169 yards on the ground, all while completing roughly 57% of his passes.

Shedeur Sanders' Path to the NFL

The Browns went 3-4 in the seven games Sanders started, and ended the season with a 5-12 record.

Sanders is the son of Hall of Fame defensive back Deion Sanders, who coached him at the college level. Shedeur initially played at Jackson State under his father before transferring to Colorado when Deion took the job in Boulder.

Sanders and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter helped the Buffaloes become bowl eligible in 2024, just two years after finishing the season with only one win.

Top Players to Participate in Pro Bowl Games

The NFL will continue the Pro Bowl Games for the fourth year after discontinuing the traditional, full-contact All-Star game at the end of the season between the NFC and AFC. Players are still recognized as Pro Bowlers for contract and legacy distinction, but the event has transitioned into a week-long skills showcase, culminating in a flag football game.

Other quarterbacks on the AFC's roster include Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen and Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers. The team also brings stars like Ja'Marr Chase, Travis Kelce, Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt.

For the NFC, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott made the team. Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, like Maye, will be replaced after his team advanced to the Super Bowl on Sunday. Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff will take Darnold's place.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Demarcus Lawrence, Leonard Williams, Devon Witherspoon and Rashid Shaheed were all selected to the NFC's roster from the conference champion Seahawks. Defensive back Christian Gonzalez was also selected to the AFC team from the conference champion Patriots.

Super Bowl LX is scheduled for February 8, but the Pro Bowl games will take center stage this week. Fans can tune in to see the action on ESPN Tuesday February 3, as the NFC and AFC face off in San Francisco.
