'Clair Obscur: Expedition 33' Breaks Impressive World Record
It was virtually impossible to discuss video games in 2025 without bringing up the juggernaut that was Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. From its emotional narrative to its unique twist on turn-based combat to its underdog independent development story, Expedition 33 resonated with a lot of players, and the awards keep trickling in.
Over on ResetEra, in an updated post from Angie, who is diligently keeping track of all the awards Expedition 33 is receiving across various industry awards events, has estimated that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has racked up a staggering 436 wins so far. The previous record was held by Elden Ring, which was released in 2022, and received a total of 435 total awards.
That's a massive accomplishment in itself, but it's somehow even more impressive when video game awards season is still ongoing, with the BAFTAs, DICE, GDC Awards, and many more still to come. Not only has Expedition 33 already broken the world record for the most awarded game in history, but it may also very well set an award bar that is so high that it might be quite a long time before another game meets or surpasses it.
Back at The Game Awards 2025, which is one of the most-watched live broadcasts each year (which also broke a viewership record), Expedition 33 won almost every category it was nominated for, including Game of the Year. The only award it was nominated for that it didn't win was Best Audio Design, which went to Battlefield 6.
Some of the other most-awarded games in video game history include: Elden Ring, The Last of Us Part 2, Baldur's Gate 3, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, God of War (2018), The Last of Us, and Astro Bot.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
