Yes, wheeled carry-on bags offer the ultimate convenience when running through an airport, but a good leather duffel bag, especially one made from quality leather that ages better over time, is undeniably cooler. The issue is finding one that doesn’t live in the $500 to $700 range. It's hard, admittedly, but Kenneth Cole Reaction has a beautiful one made from Colombian leather, and at Nordstrom Rack, it’s on sale for a price that made us double-take.
The Kenneth Cole Reaction Colombian Leather 20-Inch Duffel Bag is on sale for $200, a 68% discount off its regular full price of $625. Not only do you get well-crafted full-grain leather in a timeless design, but it's made large enough to easily hold an extended weekend's worth of gear (and shoes). It comes in two colors, tan and classic black, but for our money, the former is the one to pick.

With this duffel, you get high-quality full-grain Colombian leather (no half-quality bonded leather here). This makes it weigh slightly more, at 4.35 pounds, but it's worth the tradeoff thanks to its craftsmanship. It has ample storage and is easy to access, thanks to its U-shaped top-access zippered main compartment, interior slip pockets, top zippered pocket, two gusseted side compartments (that can hold sneaker or dress shoes), and additional zippered pockets. It also has a reinforced handle, a removable padded shoulder strap, and five base feet protectors on the bottom of the bag for added protection.
Above all, $200 for one of these is a really good price. The price lands at the same cost as Quince’s minimalist nappa leather duffel (also full-grain leather) that doesn't have as much storage capacity. Leatherology offers similarly handcrafted bags as well, but they generally run closer to the $425 mark.

Surprisingly, there are no reviews on Nordstrom Rack’s site, but over at Macy’s, where the bag is listed at $720, there are over 80 five-star ratings. One shopper said this duffel bag is made with “soft” leather that feels very “luxurious,” while pointing out that the “central compartment fits a ton of stuff, and there are great side pockets for shoes.”
Another said it’s a “gorgeous" bag that was larger than expected, and referred to its leather as “1A” quality. Another said it's perfect for weekend getaways, while stating that the “leather is quality workmanship.”
