Billy Bob Thornton Addresses Rumor He's Leaving 'Landman'
Season 2 of the popular Paramount+ show Landman just ended, leaving fans hungry for more. Luckily for them, Season 3 is already confirmed. Series co-creator Christian Wallace told The Hollywood Reporter that the next season of the star-studded series would be a "reset" with totally different character dynamics in play. Was this his way of confirming the rumors that Billy Bob Thornton, who plays the main character, Tommy Norris, would not be returning?
Well, speculate no more, because the Sling Blade star has addressed the rumor head-on.
Billy Bob Thornton Sets the Record Straight
Without including spoilers, there were valid reasons fans were left wondering about Thornton's future on the show after a big twist near the end of Season 2. But in an interview with USA Today, the Bad Santa star addressed both that rumor and the one that he and his co-star Demi Moore are romantically involved. The truth?
"They have nothing to do with reality." He went on to call the rumors "AI-generated crap." Sorry, DemiBob shippers.
If that weren't enough, Thornton went on to pledge his commitment to the series. "It's been great working with Sam [Elliott]. And I love doing the show," he said. "I'll be here as long as it plays out. If it's five years, great. If it's six, I'm there." Sounds like they might end up having to drag him off the set.
So Thornton is definitely returning next season. But is his co-star (and definitely not lover) Moore? The Hollywood Reporter straight up asked Wallace if there was a role for Moore's character, Cami, in Season 3. Will her superfans have to abandon the show and rewatch The Substance an endless loop? Wallace answered with a non-answer.
"I think there are so many different opportunities and ways this can play out," he said. "At the end of the day, I’m putting my trust in [series co-creator] Taylor [Sheridan] and his decisions for all of these characters’ storylines. That one is above my pay grade." So I guess we know who wears the pants in this working relationship.
