2026 NBA All-Stars Announced, and Steph and Lebron Make History for Different Reasons

0 16

The mid-February pastime in the US is almost upon us, and no, I’m not talking about Valentine’s Day (although the event does occur during Valentine’s Day weekend). Starting on Friday, February 13, the NBA will host the annual All-Star Weekend, and on Sunday, February 15, in particular, the 75th edition of the NBA All-Star Game will be played live in the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. And thanks to the league’s official announcement on January 19th, fans now know the starters in the 2026 game. Check out the list below:

The Eastern Conference

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo | Milwaukee Bucks
  • Jalen Brunson | New York Knicks
  • Cade Cunningham | Detroit Pistons
  • Jaylen Brown | Boston Celtics
  • Tyrese Maxey | Philadelphia 76ers

The Western Conference

  • Stephen Curry | Golden State Warriors
  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander | Oklahoma City Thunder
  • Luka Dončić | Los Angeles Lakers
  • Nikola Jokić | Denver Nuggets
  • Victor Wembanyama | San Antonio Spurs

Steph Curry Continues to Make History with the 2026 NBA All-Star Game

Steph Curry is a living legend when it comes to the NBA. He has four championship rings, two MVP awards, is the all-time leader in 3-point shots, is an Olympic gold medalist, and has rightfully earned the name of the “Baby Face Assassin.” According to ESPN, the guard is averaging 27.6 points and 4.9 assists per game, while currently maintaining a 38.6% behind the arc. So his fans have had plenty of reasons to support this 11th All-Star Game starter appearance.

Speaking of which, with this latest All-Star honor, he continues to make history with the most selections to the game from any Golden State Warrior player. Additionally, according to Polymarket Hoops, this All-Star honor makes Curry the oldest point guard in history to be selected as a starter, at the ripe age of 37.

LeBron James’ All-Star Game Streak Is Broken

LeBron "King" James has not been selected as a starter for the 2026 All-Star Game, marking the first time he hasn’t received this distinction since his rookie year in 2004. Again, referring to ESPN, for the current NBA season, he’s averaging 22.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game. However, even with his still noteworthy stats and his legion of fans, that appears not have been enough to get him the votes needed to be selected as an All-Star Game starter. With all that being said, James' record-breaking streak of 21 consecutive All-Star starter nominations has sadly ended.

But don’t worry if you’re a fan of James and really wanted to see him play in the game this year. He still has the opportunity to be selected to the reserve roster, which will be announced on February 1.
