Brooklyn Peltz Beckham Says He Won’t Reconcile With Family, Calls Out Mother Victoria for ‘Inappropriately’ Dancing With Him at Wedding
"I do not want to reconcile with my family," Brooklyn Peltz Beckham has said in a new statement regarding his long-speculated relationship status with his parents, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham.
Peltz Beckham, who has been married to actress Nicola Peltz Beckham since 2022, released a new statement on Instagram on Monday, accusing his parents of "trying endlessly to ruin" his relationship with his now-wife for several years.
"My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we've tried to come together as one," the 26-year-old wrote on the social media app. "I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private."
The former photographer went on to accuse his parents of selling stories to the press involving him and his wife. "Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed."
Later, Peltz Beckham said the lead-up to his wedding was rife with animosity between his bride and his parents.
"My mum cancelled making Nicola's dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress. Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children."
One long-held rumor regarding the wedding day, over Brooklyn's first dance with his new wife, was confirmed by the 26-year-old. "My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song. In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife," Peltz Beckham explained. Instead, "my mum was waiting to dance with me instead. She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone."
"I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life."
Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, née Brooklyn Beckham, was born in March 1999 to then-Spice Girl and professional footballer Victoria and David Beckham, respectively. The couple married in May of that year, and went on to have three more children, Romeo (born 2002), Cruz (born 2005), and Harper (born 2011).
In more recent times, Brooklyn said in a further accusation, "We still travelled to London for my dad's birthday and were rejected for a week as we waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him. He refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner."
In a closing paragraph in the six-page statement, the son of the famous couple concluded, "My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first/ Family "love" is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it's at the expense of our professional obligations."
Reps for David and Victoria Beckham did not immediately respond to Men's Journal's request for comment.
