New 'Resident Evil' Remake Will Be Announced Later This Year, According to New Leaks
Capcom has had a winning formula for its iconic survival horror franchise: releasing new mainline entries and modern remakes of the classic Resident Evil titles. Surprisingly, even before Resident Evil Requiem releases next month, it now seems that Capcom has more prepared in 2026 for the series' 30th anniversary.
According to popular (and mostly correct) leaker AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem on X, Capcom will be officially announcing a remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica later this year.
Dusk Golem posted to X, writing, "...there is NOT a Resident Evil 5 Remake that's going to be announced this year. Instead, later this year, a RE Remake that starts with "(C)" & ends "(ode Veronica)" is going to be announced, I promise you."
Dusk Golem's message was written in response to fan speculation of Resident Evil 5's voice actress for Sheva Alomar, Eva La Dare, potentially doing new voice work that could have possibly been pointing towards a remake of Resident Evil 5, instead of Code Veronica. "Her thing is something else, not a remake of RE5," added Dusk Golem.
It should always be noted to take leaks with a grain of salt, as game development and marketing plans often change, and Capcom has not confirmed any additional Resident Evil remakes are in development.
However, Dusk Golem has been providing numerous leaks on the soon-to-be-released Resident Evil Requiem, including information that fan-favorite Leon S. Kennedy would not only be playable but also a "co-star" with newcomer Grace Ashcroft, which did indeed turn out to be true. Dusk Golem also revealed the official title of the game before the game's title announcement at Summer Game Fest 2025.
Additional leaks from Dusk Golem also suggest that the remake of Code Veronica may be released in 2027, and an additional remake of Resident Evil Zero is expected to be released in 2028. That information is, of course, unconfirmed.
At the end of 2023, the year the latest remake in the Resident Evil series was released, Resident Evil 4 remake, Capcom also confirmed more remakes would be coming, which gives even heavier weight to this rumor.
Resident Evil Requiem will release on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Capcom has not officially announced a Code Veronica or Zero remake and has not released any statement on these leaks and rumors.
