Broncos QB Bo Nix Breaks Ankle in Overtime Win, Out for AFC Championship

Denver Broncos will be down a quarterback during the AFC Championship game after Bo Nix broke his ankle in their overtime win over the Buffalo Bills.

Head coach Sean Payton made the announcement during the post-game press conference on Sunday, revealing that the injury occurred during the second-to-last play of the game.

"Stiddy’s ready to go," Payton said, referring to Jarrett Stidham.

Stidham joined the Broncos on a two-year, $10 million contract in March 2023. That season, he started in the final two games of the season after starting QB Russell Wilson was benched. He signed a $12 million extension in March 2025.

The AFC Championship game will be just the second time Stidham hits the turf this season. He saw limited game time during the October 26 game versus the Dallas Cowboys.

The Denver Broncos will take on the winner of the New England Patriots vs. Houston Texans Divisional game on Sunday, January 25, at home.
