Hazardous Weather Warning Issued With Snow Expected Before NFL Playoff Game on Saturday
The NFL playoffs officially kick off on Saturday, Jan 10 with two wild card games on the docket ahead of a busy weekend with three more games on Sunday and a final wild card game on Monday night.
The action starts with a bout between the Los Angeles Rams and Carolina Panthers. While head coach Sean McVay and the Rams enter the contest as heavy favorites, the Panthers showed they have the capability to defeat the Rams with a surprising 31-28 victory in Week 13.
The night cap for NFL fans is a rematch between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers - who split their regular season series with Green Bay winning the first contest 28-21 and Chicago taking the second matchup in a thrilling comeback 22-16 overtime win.
National Weather Service Issued Hazardous Weather Warning
Ahead of the rematch between Chicago and Green Bay, the National Weather Service issued a "hazardous" weather outlook for the Chicago area.
"A mix of rain and snow will affect the area through midday today, and may turn to all snow for a period mainly northwest of a Rochelle to Waukegan Illinois line. This could support some slushy accumulations of around an inch, especially on grassy surfaces," the weather report reads. "After a lull in precipitation this afternoon, blustery and colder weather will arrive late this afternoon and evening, accompanied by scattered snow showers which may lead to quick bursts of snow accumulations along with sharply-reduced visibilities and associated travel impacts."
An interactive map from the National Weather Service showed the area can expect to receive up to two inches of snow on Saturday, but the game shouldn't be impacted by snowfall.
Kickoff between the Bears and Packers is set for 8 p.m. ET on Prime Video.
