Steam Machine Price May Have Been Leaked, and It's More Expensive Than You Probably Think
Video games are getting more expensive; that has been the case for many years (and especially in 2025), but a possible new leak for Valve's upcoming Steam Machine device might have many gamers gasping.
According to a leaked listing from a Czech retailer, Smarty, the Steam Machine's price might be around $950 for the 512 GB model or $1070 for the 2 TB model. The actual listing never went up on Smarty's website. This information was discovered in the website's source code by ClawSomeGamer.
Clawsomegamer went on to post an update to their findings and on social media to clarify that Smarty has a 17 percent margin on the products it sells. That could make the price of the Steam Machine around $814 for the 512 GB model and $916 for the 2 TB model. Clawsomegamer also notes that Smarty is most likely unaware of the official price.
It should be said that no official price has been set by Smarty or any other retailer, and Valve has made no statement regarding pricing. Therefore, all of this information should be given its due skepticism.
Concerns about the prices of electronics, especially in the video game industry, have been running rampant for months, as the impacts of tariffs and memory shortages have many gamers, developers, and publishers on edge in an ever-changing economy.
Over on Reddit, in a thread by chusskaptaan, fans are debating the purported price of the Steam Machine, with most fans seemingly against the price and are suggesting that gamers just get a PC instead of this new device.
"You can still get a better pc for cheaper even with inflated prices. That is a crazy price for something weaker than a PS5," wrote Howdareme9.
The Steam Machine is being marketed as a "half-console, half-PC" for gamers looking to have a PC-level experience without being tied to a computer desk.
The Steam Deck is currently in production with no announced release date or official pricing.
