Netflix Will Soon Add Reboot of Classic U.S. Sitcom

Netflix is always tinkering with its streaming library, with hundreds of movies and television shows coming and going from the platform every month.

While we're still in the first week of January, there's already news being reported about what programs will be joining Netflix next month. One of the shows debuting on the app in February is a modern remake of "Night Court," the beloved 1980s sitcom.

The new 'Night Court' is coming to Netflix soon

According to What's on Netflix's Kasey Moore, "Night Court" will arrive on Netflix on Tuesday, Feb. 3. All three seasons (47 episodes) of the NBC comedy will be available.

Based on the original "Night Court," which ran for nine seasons on NBC from 1984-92, the reboot stars Melissa Stauch as Judge Abby Stone, the daughter of Harry Stone, the central character in the first iteration of the series.

"Unapologetic optimist judge Abby Stone, the daughter of the late Harry Stone, follows in her father’s footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former evening court prosecutor Dan Fielding," says the show's official synopsis.

Fielding is played by John Larroquette, who reprised his role from the original "Night Court." India de Beaufort, Kapil Talwalkar, Lacretta, Wendie Malick and Nyambi Nyambi also star, while Richard Kind, Ray Abruzzo and Marsha Warfield, who also featured in the 1980s version of the show, are among those making recurring appearances.

What kind of ratings did 'Night Court' receive?

"Night Court" 2.0 launched in 2023, and the first season drew mostly positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, earning a 74% approval rating. Interestingly, the inaugural season of "Night Court" from 1984 only scored 62% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The modern version also scored 6.7/10 on Rating Graph and 5.8/10 on IMDB.
