0 13

Over the last several months, food costs have been one of the most heavily discussed topics in the world. As shoppers have been habitually hit with sticker shock, it feels like people have been putting more effort into finding good deals and compelling sales than at any other time in recent memory.

Since Costco is a company that has managed to create a lot of loyalty among a large portion of its shoppers, there are often a lot of people specifically talking about the deals that it offers. Even still, the reaction to the news that Costco has been offering $50 off Beef Ribeye Whole has especially garnered a lot of attention on social media.

On December 30, 2025, a user on the r/Costco subreddit posted to let the other users know that Costco had USDA Choice Beef Ribeye Whole for sale. Their post featured a photo showing that big packages of beef were being sold at $50 off. Furthermore, the Costco signage showed that the $50 discount would be in effect until January 31st, 2026. Considering that there has been so much discussion about beef prices ballooning in many regions of the world, the post unsurprisingly received a lot of engagement. Upvoted by more than 700 users, many responses were from people who expressed interest in taking advantage of the deal or stated they'd already bought the beef that was on sale in their store.

As anyone familiar with Costco's business will likely already know, their locations don't always offer the same deals and products. As such, anyone interested in taking advantage of the sale will have to check local availability. Despite that, many people in the comments of the Reddit post were stating that they saw the Beef Ribeye Whole sale in a variety of different regions. With that in mind, it makes sense that news of the Costco beef sale has spread on social media.

On Instagram, one user posted about finding the sale in their Costco location. That post featured a caption which in part stated, "I Found The VIRAL COSTCO STEAK!!!" Similarly, a Facebook account that goes under the name "Costco Wonders," shared the news about the sale and got a good amount of engagement. If that wasn't enough, a YouTube channel under the name @RobDaman posted a YouTube short highlighting Costco's Beef Ribeye Whole sale.

Some Shoppers Are Underwhelmed by Costco’s Beef Ribeye Whole $50 off Sale

While a lot of the social media discussion about Costco's Beef Ribeye Whole $50 off sale has been celebratory, it is important to note that definitely hasn't been the universal reaction. Instead, some observers have openly questioned whether the sale is a good deal at all. When a Facebook user posted on a page called Steak Club about the sale, many of the comments were highly skeptical of the discount.

One comment argued that instead of being $50 off, the sale should be 50% off since beef has become so overpriced. " It should be 50% off. The price was way out of line to begin with." Another comment claimed that the sale is so dubious that Costco is ripping its customers off. "266$ for the slab and its choice ???????????? costco loves ripping off their customers." One commenter questioned the timing of the sale. "Should have done it before the holidays when it mattered and not now when you need to dump it you chumps!" If all those comments weren't unimpressed enough, one responder gave a specific explanation for why they contended the sale is a bad deal. "???? $266.00 - 50.00 = wayyy over priced even with the market like it is. These same rib eyes are at Sam’s Club for around $150-180. I shop both stores and prefer Costco, but I’ll give Sam’s the Go on this one."

It is fascinating to see how the people who engage with a Facebook page dedicated to steak reacted to Costco's sale. Another interesting fact about the situation is that their comments about the sale will disappear when Costco's sale ends. According to the Steak Club Facebook page with all that engagement, all posts and comments will be deleted when January ends, which is also when Costco's sale will be over.
