Amazon Prime Video Announced the Cancellation of 17 Shows in 2025

0 0

Amazon Prime Video is one of the most popular streaming services in the world, thanks in large part to its extensive library of original shows. However, this year, the streaming giant made several cuts to that library, canceling well over a dozen of its original shows.

Over the past year, Amazon Prime Video announced the cancellation of 17 different shows, 14 of which were canceled after just one season on the platform.

Here's a full look at the shows that will not be returning to Amazon Prime Video after they were canceled this season.

Almost Paradise (2 Seasons)

Premiering in March of 2020, Almost Paradise focuses on a retired DEA agent who moves to the Philippines and purchases a gift shop at the Paradise Hotel, only to be drawn back into law enforcement after criminal activity threatens the island.

The show, which debuted on WGN America, was well enough received to earn a second season on Amazon Prime Video, which debuted in July of 2023. However, it will not be back on Prime Video in the future.

Back in April of 2025, Amazon officially announced the cancellation of Almost Paradise. However, creator Dean Devlin has revealed plans to shop the series to other networks.

The Wheel of Time (3 Seasons)

The Wheel of Time series is a TV adaptation of the epic, 14-book fantasy series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson that follows a group of young people who discover they are intertwined with the fate of the world.

The books are set in a world that is simultaneously the distant past and distant future of the real world, detailing the battle between Light and Dark, specifically the fight against a powerful evil called the Dark One.

The show was well-received, as the first season was actually Prime Video’s most-watched series premiere of the year in 2021 and one of the platform’s Top 5 series launches of all time, and the most recent season received the highest rating of the bunch, earning a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite the success, however, the show was canceled for financial reasons back in May.

Leverage: Redemption (3 Seasons)

A revival of the action crime drama series Leverage, with most of the main cast returning, Leverage: Redemption follows the team as they open a new Leverage Consulting office in New Orleans, as it continues its work to take down rich criminals and help those who need their particular brand of justice.

The show premiered on Amazon Freevee and was well-received after its release, even moving to Prime Video for its third season. However, following the third season of the show, Amazon announced that the show had not been renewed for another season.

Canceled After One Season

In addition to these three shows that were canceled after multiple seasons, Amazon Prime Video also canceled 14 different shows after just one season.

  • The Pradeep’s of Pittsburgh
  • The Sticky
  • Cruel Intentions
  • Honey Bunny (Citadel Spinoff)
  • Diana (Citadel Spinoff)
  • The Power
  • Clean Slate
  • On Call
  • The Bondsman
  • Étoile
  • The Bondsman
  • Motorheads
  • Butterfly
  • Countdown

While Amazon Prime Video will undoubtedly still boast an impressive collection of original shows, fans will undoubtedly be frustrated to see some of these shows go.
