Winter Storm Ezra Warning Announced as 25 Inches of Snow, 75 mph Winds Approach

On Sunday, Dec. 28 the Weather Channel offered an update on Winter Storm Ezra and revealed several states are in danger of heavy snowfall and significant winds.

"Winter Storm Ezra has arrived across the Upper Midwest and will target the Northeast as well, bringing snow, rain and wind, and possible blizzard conditions, to areas just impacted by Winter Storm Devin," the Weather Channel announced. "The storm will rapidly strengthen as it moves over the Upper Midwest on Sunday and will be a quick mover through the Great Lakes on Monday and reaching north of Maine by Tuesday."

Midwest Bracing for Heavy Snowfall

According to the Weather Channel, the heaviest snowfall will come in the Upper Peninsula as Marquette, MI braces for "several" feet of snow. Meanwhile, other part os the Midwest like the Twin Cities, Green Bay and Duluth, Minnesota are bracing for up to 12 inches of snow.

A model from meteorologist Max Velocity shows the Upper Peninsula is bracing for up to 25 inches of snow in just the next 48 hours.

"BLIZZARD WARNINGS issued for Michigan and Minnesota, with 1-3 FEET of snow likely! Get ready for major travel impacts, with widespread road closures likely," he said in another tweet while revealing blizzard conditions are expected with winds up to 75 miles per hour.

'Big Chill' Coming to The Plains

Temperatures are expected to drop dramatically over the next few days in the Plains with some locations expected to see up to a 40 degree drop in temperature.

"Take Minneapolis and Des Moines, which have highs of 35 and 43 on Sunday, respectively. But by Monday, they drop below 20 for their highs," the Weather Channel said. "Chicago will see a high in the 50s on Sunday, while St. Louis will see a pleasant high of 71. Fast forward to Monday, and both cities won’t get out of the 20s."
