SNL's Biggest Star Announces Abrupt Departure From Show After 8 Seasons
NBC's Saturday Night Live has probably seen more cast changeovers than any show in history, and now there's one more high-profile departure to add to the mix. As Variety reports, comedian Bowen Yang will depart the show abruptly after this Saturday's episode. The exit, reported just one day before his final show, marks the end of an eight-season run that has seen Yang become the show's most-famous current cast member.
According to Variety, representatives for both Yang and NBC declined to comment.
Yang's Departure Ends Eight-Season Run
Yang first joined Saturday Night Live as a writer in 2018 during season 44. He became a featured player for season 45, and joined the main cast during season 47. His work on the show has earned him four Emmy nominations for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
Yang has since developed a lucrative film career, landing a prime role in the dual blockbusters Wicked: Part One, and Wicked: For Good, as well as films like Fire Island, Bros, and Good Burger 2.
