The Top 10 Video Games Revealed At The Game Awards 2025

Las week, the gaming industry held its version of the Oscars with the 12th edition of The Game Awards. Of course, the awards themselves are merely a backdrop to many gamers who tune in looking for new titles to be announced. The 2025 version did not disappoint, highlighting several big reveals. With that in mind, here’s my top 10:

Please note: This list only applies to new announcement trailers for full games, so releases like the new Diablo IV DLC Lord of Hatred or extended looks at 007 First Light and Resident Evil Requiem, which showed Leon Kennedy as a playable character, won’t be included.

10) Mega Man Dual Override

I went back and forth between this and Total War: Warhammer 40,000, but ultimately, I gave the nod to Mega Man Dual Override. It’s been seven years since the last proper Mega Man game, and the gameplay shown in the trailer looked like a nice mix of nostalgia and modern graphics. Color me intrigued.

9) Pragmata

OK, OK, technically this wasn’t a “new” announcement, having first been shown back in 2020 for Sony. It was initially supposed to be released in 2022 but has encountered numerous delays. The Game Awards trailer put the game back on the radar with a look that reminded me of Death Stranding meets Vanquish, with some potentially unique gameplay.

8) Exodus

In terms of graphical prowess, Exodus didn’t blow me away. You didn’t need to look hard to see the Mass Effect vibes oozing off of it, though. For good reason, too, as developer Archetype Entertainment was founded by BioWare veterans. With the Mass Effect trilogy ranking among my favorite games all-time, I’ll be watching this one closely.

7) Tomb Raider Catalyst

Lara Croft was back in a big way on Thursday night, as two games were announced, with Tomb Raider Catalyst serving as the next original entry in the long-running series. It features the return of Crystal Dynamics as the developer—they were replaced by Eidos-Montreal on Shadow of the Tomb Raider—but doesn’t look like a direct sequel. I really enjoyed the last trilogy, though, so I’m hoping they don’t stray far from the formula those games established.

6) Divinity

While details are scarce, Divinity is being developed by Larian Studios, whose last game, Baldur’s Gate 3, ranks among the best RPGs of all time. That’s enough to generate serious interest.

No Law (Neon Giant)

5) No Law

Aesthetically, I couldn’t have loved what I saw from No Law more than I did. The gameplay snippets didn’t hit as hard, though, and that echoed what happened with developer Neon Giant’s last game, The Ascent. Visually, it’s amazing. The gameplay never matched its look, however, so let’s hope that isn’t the case here.

4) Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

Short shorts. Dual pistols. Handstand climbs. Dinosaurs. Yes, yes, yes, and hell yes. A remake of the 1996 game that launched the series. I’m in.

3) Gang of Dragon

The newest game from the mind of Toshihiro Nagoshi, who created the Yakuza series (and also the criminally underrated Binary Domain), Gang of Dragon looks like it might scratch the near-constant itch I have for games set in modern-day Asian metropolises—and while we’re here, can we please get a sequel to Sleeping Dogs?

Control Resonant (Remedy Entertainment)

2) Control Resonant

A new entry from Remedy set in the world of Alan Wake and Control? Say less.

1) Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic

Unless you were there, it’s hard to overstate how important Knights of the Old Republic was to the Star Warsfandom when it launched in 2003. Released just a year after Attack of the Clones, it took the franchise in a more adult direction and established BioWare as an elite developer—they’d follow KOTOR with Mass Effect and Dragon Age. Under development by Casey Hudson, who was the director of KOTOR and the Mass Effect Trilogy, Fate of the Old Republic has me at GTA VI levels of excitement.
