Uber Announces Major Update to Airport Pickups
Uber just announced a major change to how travelers can book a ride from the airport: Uber Kiosks.
"Say hello to Uber Kiosks," the rideshare giant announced on Tuesday, December 9. "A new, phone-free way to book an Uber, perfect for international visitors arriving without a local data plan. Uber kiosk gives travelers a simple way to request a ride – even if they don’t have the Uber app."
According to the company, travelers hoping to catch a ride with Uber can simply "walk up to the kiosk, enter your destination, then select your ride type. The kiosk prints a paper receipt with your trip details, making the experience as straightforward as possible."
Uber is kicking off this major change with the first kiosk at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) Terminal C. However, the company did not specify exactly when the kiosk would be making its debut.
"Additional rollouts [are] planned for hotels, ports, & international airports in the coming months," the announcement revealed.
