NFL Fans Are Furious About 'RedZone' Sunday Afternoon
The NFL world is in the middle of its late-season playoff push. Meanwhile, the league's popular NFL RedZone channel is in preseason form.
When the 1 p.m. window began this afternoon, fans tuning into RedZone for its typical quick-hitting, whip-around coverage were immediately left disappointed. The channel was experiencing serious audio issues.
NFL fans living over 'RedZone' struggles
Immediately, social media blew up with complaints. Some people, still salty over RedZone's new inclusion of ads, mentioned it in their criticism over the audio debacle.
"NFL Redzone turned into a white noise machine," said longtime NFL writer Ian Kenyon.
"Just saying that NFL Redzone never had problems like this before they started shoving Ads down our face," added EA Sports' Jeffrey Rose.
"Scott Hanson still commentating on the NFL Redzone games while the audio is completely broken," a third person said.
"Is anybody else's RedZone feed now possessed with the sound of frying bacon, or it just me?" asked Athlon Sports' Doug Farrar.
"First day running audio for nfl redzone. How am I doing?" another fan joked.
"Status alert: NFL RedZone is cooked," The Underdog NFL account chimed in.
"Shout out to #redzone. Adding in commercials and ads, multiple weeks where the audio drops, and now this week horrible static sounds for an extended period," tweeted another fan.
Eventually, RedZone figured out its problems and returned to normal, but the damage was done.
RedZone looking different these days
When ESPN acquired the rights to RedZone before the 2025 season, it meant the end of the "seven hours of commercial free football," as the network's beloved tagline went.
According to a recent report from Sports Business Journal, there were 17 advertisements that ran throughout NFL RedZone coverage last Sunday, Week 13 of the NFL season.
Additionally, there were also multiple sponsored segments on top of standalone advertisements.
