Iconic TV Series Officially Leaving Netflix in January

0 5

It's no secret that many people use streaming platforms to rewatch or binge old movies and television shows. Netflix, for example, keeps an large archive of classic content on-demand, but is always adjusting its catalog.

On January 1, when the calendar flips to 2026, Netflix will reportedly be losing over 100 movies and several notable television show. Fans of one iconic drama series in particular will be disappointed.

'Lost' is leaving Netflix

According to What's on Netflix, Netflix is dropping five series on the first day of the new year. One of them is Lost, the Emmy Award-winning science fiction adventure show that aired for six seasons on ABC from 2004-10.

Starring Naveen Andrews, Matthew Fox, Jorge Garcia and others, Lost documents the survivors of a plane crash on a remote island set in the South Pacific Ocean. Known for its supernatural components and vivid flashback and flashforward sequences, the program is widely-regarded as one of the greatest television series of all-time.

In 2023, Variety ranked it 32nd on its list of the top 100 television shows, citing Lost's "tantalizing mystery box questions" and "vibrantly rendered characters" as contributing to a "expansive, rip-roaring, fabulously weird adventure."

"It was a flawed show, sometimes deeply so, but between its characters and, yes, those damned questions, “Lost” engaged its audience like no other, precipitating the online ecosystem of fevered fan theorizing that dominates how so many of us experience our favorite shows today," Variety wrote.

Where can "Lost' fans get their fix?

Netflix may be saying goodbye to Lost in a few weeks, but viewers can still find the creation of J. J. Abrams, Jeffrey Lieber and Damon Lindelof on several other platforms.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, Lost is currently available on Fandango, Hulu and Disney+. Individual episodes and full seasons are also available for purchase on Amazon Prime Video and YouTube.

"The survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 were 1,000 miles off course when they crashed on a lush, mysterious island," says Rotten Tomatoes' review of the show. "Each person possesses a shocking secret, but they've got nothing on the island itself, which harbors a monstrous security system, a series of underground bunkers and a group of violent survivalists hidden in the shadows."
