‘Home Improvement’ Actor Zachery Ty Bryan Arrested
An actor who played in one of the most beloved sitcoms of the 1990s is under arrest. Zachery Ty Bryan, who starred in "Home Improvement," was arrested along with his girlfriend over the weekend.
Bryan was taken into custody Saturday in Eugene, OR on a probation violation. That probation is tied to a previous conviction for domestic violence, and it is set to expire next October.
In addition to the probation charge, Bryan's girlfriend Johnnie Faye Cartwright is faing several charges of her own. Cartwright has been charged with DUI, three counts of reckless endangering, and attempted first-degree assault. Her arraignment is set for Monday, and this latest incident highlights many legal troubles for Bryan and those around him.
Bryan's Ongoing Legal Issues
Bryan and Cartwright first had a domestic dispute in the state of Oregon, when they were allegedly involved in a "drunken dispute." Bryan faced several charges connected to that incident, and he was still on probation when it occurred.
In addition to the charges he faces in Oregon, Bryan has been arrested for DUI in Oklahoma, and he was accused of strangling and choking Cartwright while traveling with her in South Carolina.
Bryan recently told TMZ he was undergoing a "journey toward personal growth" that included taking accountability for his actions. His declaration came after another woman obtained a five-year restraining order, citing physical and verbal abuse.
"The truth is, I've struggled with the lasting effects of early fame, addiction, and poor decision-making, which have hurt people I care about and led to repeated legal issues, including DUIs and past domestic incidents," Bryan said earlier this month in an interview with TMZ.
"This latest situation, involving a restraining order and serious accusations, has been a painful wake-up call."
No criminal charges have been filed in that case, but the woman alleges that Bryan harmed a dog, locked himself in a room and split that room's door frame by punching it off its hinges.
Bryan's Work on 'Home Improvement'
Bryan played one of the three Allen sons on Home Improvement, the sitcom led by legendary actor Tim Allen.
The show ran for eight seasons on ABC, where it was once a prominent part of the channel's lineup of shows. "Home Improvement" was nominated for multiple primetime Emmy awards, and it also made Allen a household name as one of the most beloved comedic actors of the 1990s.
In addition to his role on "Home Improvement," Bryan also held roles in films like "Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift," "Annapolis," "The Game of their Lives" and "Longshot." As a child, he was nominated for his work on "Home Improvement," joining other young stars of the time like Jonathan Taylor Thomas.
