Jelly Roll Makes First Public Appearance With Startling New Look

0 37

Jelly Roll has been reinventing himself in more ways than one over the last couple of years. Beginning in 2022, the "Save Me" singer, who at one point weighed more than 500 pounds, embarked on a weight loss crusade that now has him over 200 pounds lighter.

Last week, Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, unveiled another appearance change, going beardless for the first time in a decade. He debuted the look on Instagram last Thursday and appeared in public with it for the first time on Sunday.

A beardless Jelly Roll steps out

Jelly Roll, sans beard, made an appearance Nissan Stadium in Nashville ahead of Sunday's game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Tennessee Titans.

Despite the support from the 2023 CMA Awards Best New Artist, Tennessee lost 30-24 to fall to 1-10 on the season.

Change was brewing for some time

In the Nov. 20 Instagram video showing off his cleanly-shaven face, Jelly Roll admitted he tried to hide himself for a long time because he was unhappy with his weight.

"I look like a Ninja Turtle," he joked. "Crazy. One of the reasons I even started growing a beard is I was so obese, it was just easier to cover up what was happening here."

Previously, his wife Alisa, known as Bunnie XO, had hinted that a change was coming in her own IG video one week earlier.

"I have never seen this man without his facial hair. Not one frickin' time," she said. "And you guys know, as women, we get catfished, 'cause we don't know what the hell's under there."

Meanwhile, Bailee Ann, Jelly Roll's 17-year-old daughter, did not seem to be a fan of the change when she saw it for the first time.

"Oh my God, I'm going to cry. I don't like this. You look like a turtle. I don't like this. Oh my God. I don't know if I'm laughing or if this is ... " she said before trailing off.
