Donald Glover Reveals Major Health Scares That Led to 2024 Tour Cancellation

Actor and musician Donald Glover, better known to his fans as Childish Gambino, has opened up about the scary health incident which led to him canceling his 2024 New World Tour (via Variety).

Glover opened up about his health scare during a performance last weekend at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw, revealing that he suffered a stroke, which made canceling the tour a necessity.

'I Am Still Copying Jamie Foxx'

“I had a really bad pain in my head in Louisiana, and I did the show anyway,” Glover explained. “I couldn’t really see well, so when we went to Houston, I went to the hospital and the doctor was like, ‘You had a stroke.’ And the first thing I thought was like, ‘Oh, here I am still copying Jamie Foxx.’ That’s really like the second thing. The first thing was like, ‘I’m letting everybody down.'”

Glover added that his stroke came shortly after he had gone through a major surgery to repair a hole in his heart. “They found a hole in my heart. So I had this surgery, and then I had to have another surgery,” he said. “They say everybody has two lives, and the second life starts when you realize you have one. You should be living your life how you want. If we have to do this again, it can only get better.”

Glover Referred to an 'Ailment' in Since-Deleted Post

Last year, Glover alluded to an unspecified “ailment” in since-deleted social media posts, explaining to fans that he required “more tests” and surgery before he could perform again. “I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform. Until then, thanks for love, privacy, and support,” he wrote at the time.
