Taylor Sheridan has become one of the most powerful people in the television landscape because he creates shows that are adored by millions of viewers. As such, there always is a lot of excitement when major news is revealed about one of his TV projects.

Fortunately for fans of Sheridan's shows, an important update on the latest chapter in his TV empire has been revealed.

Even though Yellowstone ended after that show's fifth season finale aired on December 15, 2024, that doesn't mean that the story of the Dutton family is over. Instead, A TV Guide article details the fact that the spin-off series focused on the next chapter in Kayce Dutton's life, Y: Marshals, is set to premiere on CBS on March 1, 2026 at 8/7c.

Y: Marshals will air on CBS on Sundays before the network's hit drama series Tracker. A November 2025 The Hollywood Reporter article revealed that Tracker's current season had been averaging nearly 14 million cross-platform viewers per episode in the seven days after they premiere. The outlet revealed that if that trend continues, Tracker will become the most-watched network show in the 2025-2026 TV season. The fact that CBS has tapped Y: Marshals to be the lead-in series for their top show speaks to the network's confidence in the Taylor Sheridan series' potential success.

Since Yellowstone became a huge success, it quickly inspired two spin-offs, 1883 and 1923. The Yellowstone franchise is set to continue with several more series coming soon, including The Madison, 1944, and another series that has Dutton Ranch as its working title. The other soon-to-be-released Yellowstone spin-off is Y: Marshals.

Focused on the continuing life of Kayce Dutton, Y: Marshals will show him leaving the ranch behind to work as a U.S. Marshal in Montana. While speaking to People in June 2025, the series' star, Luke Grimes, teased that Y: Marshals will feature characters that fans will recognize from Yellowstone. "There's going to be some familiar faces, but there's going to be a lot of new faces too, so we'll see how that all feels."

In terms of Y: Marshals' cast, A September 2025 Us Weekly article revealed that the series will star other Yellowstone veterans. Credited with appearing in 53 Yellowstone episodes on IMDb, Brecken Merrill will return as Kayce's son, Tate Dutton. The article also confirmed that Y: Marshals will star Gil Birmingham, who will continue his Yellowstone role as Thomas Rainwater. Finally, the outlet confirmed that Mo Brings Plenty will reprise his Yellowstone role of Mo.

The most surprising thing that has been revealed about Y: Marshals is an actor who hasn't been confirmed to be part of the series yet. Despite starring in every Yellowstone season as Kayce's wife and Tate's mother, Monica Dutton, Kelsey Asbille hasn't been announced as being part of Y: Marshals' cast. That said, there also hasn't been any official confirmation that Kelsey Asbille won't be part of the upcoming spin-off's cast.
