Delta Reminds U.S. Travelers of Big Plans for Summer 2026
Winter is on its way, with the holidays right around the corner and colder weather seeping in around the country. This is the time when many Americans are dreaming of warmer locales.
It's also when people begin booking summer travel arrangements, if they don't have them already. U.S. air carriers, including Delta Air Lines, have been rolling out summer 2026 travel plans throughout the last few months. Delta issued a reminder of its upcoming changes this weekend.
Seven new flights to Europe on the way
Delta has announced seven new European routes from three different origin airports: Boston, Seattle and New York (JFK). The company again discussed these flights in a compilation news release on Friday.
The seven routes are as follows:
- Boston to Madrid, Spain - Starting May 6, 2026
- Seattle to Rome, Italy - Starting May 6, 2026
- Seattle to Barcelona, Spain - Starting May 7, 2026
- Boston to Nice, France - Starting May 16, 2026
- New York (JFK) to Olba, Sardinia - Starting May 20, 2026
- New York (JFK) to Porto, Portugal - Starting May 21, 2026
- New York (JFK) to Malta - Starting June 7, 2026
The Sardinia and Malta trips are unique, because those destinations were chosen by Delta SkyMiles Members and company employees during a round of polling earlier this year.
“We are continuing to add more choice and unique destinations for our SkyMiles members with new service to Malta and Sardinia, two destinations previously unserved from the U.S.,” said Paul Baldoni, Delta senior vice president network planning. “We can now say that our network is not just built for our most loyal customers, but by them.”
Other new Delta initiatives
Delta recently announced two other new service initiatives, including the introduction of "Comfort Basic" seating on select flights, which began on Nov. 19.
"Comfort basic" seating offers 3 to 4 inches of additional legroom over basic economy, as well as specific Comfort Basic zones at the front of the cabin for faster boarding and a few other perks as well.
Delta has also launched its “Delta Locals” program, designed to help travelers experience their destination as a local, providing a “one-stop shop for trip recommendations made easy and more personalized.”
Cities included in "Delta Locals" include Patagonia, Tokyo, Sicily, and Los Angeles, with Curaçao, Austin, Dublin and others all set to join in the coming months.
