Chiefs Star Uses Kanye West Quote to Silence Haters After Brutal Loss to Broncos

0 1

Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones is looking to quiet the haters, taking a page from the embattled book of rapper Kanye 'Ye' West, after his team lost its second game in a row on Sunday.

Falling just short of the Denver Broncos 22-19, the Chiefs continue to be ridiculed in the media. Once seen as the juggernaut of the AFC, the Chiefs aren't even in playoff contention right now.

Reaction After the Game

Following the loss, Jones, a defensive tackle who has won 3 Super Bowls with the Chiefs, spoke with the media. "This moment, right here, is very pivotal for us as a team to make sure we come [together] as a cohesive unit," he told reporters. "So easy to point fingers, especially after a loss. Especially when you have so many expectations from everybody else."

Speaking on their record, Jones said, "We've won 5 games and we've lost 5 games. So we're at .500. And this week we played a really, really good team. And I think we have the pieces to, you know, win out. But it starts with 1 game. It starts with us. Especially offensive line, defensive line. These next few games [are] going to be critical for us individually and also as a group."

The team's quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, gave similar remarks, telling reporters, "All you can focus on is next week. We got to learn from this one as much as possible, knowing that we're going to get a great opponent coming into Arrowhead [Stadium] this next week. We're kinda at that point where we gotta find a way to just win football games."

Travis Kelce, who broke a franchise record for most touchdowns on Sunday, chose not to speak after the loss.

What Would Kanye West Do?

The negative press and fan outrage persisted past Sunday, though, so Jones decided to keep talking. On Monday, the 31-year-old took to his Instagram story to share a post highlighting a comment seemingly made by Ye about losing some games.

"THEY ACT LIKE YOU CAN'T LOSE A FEW GAMES AND STILL WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP," the old Kanye tweet read, superimposed over a photo of the rapper flashing a peace sign.

The Chiefs will play the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, November 23.
