United Airlines Reportedly Making Major Changes to International Schedule in 2026

0 13

Summer 2026 is still over six months away, but many people are already planning or have booked their getaways. If you're looking to check out Europe and are considering flying United Airlines out of New Jersey's Newark Airport, you're going to want to read this post.

According to schedule updates uncovered by Aeroroutes and compiled by The Bulkhead Seat, United is altering its European schedule, scaling back service to some locations while adding it for others.

Three routes are being downsized

United Airlines' Newark to Brussels, Belgium and Newark to Edinburgh, Scotland routes are being trimmed, with a planned second daily season flight to each location canceled.

Additionally, instead of servicing 11 weekly flights to Frankfurt, United will instead run seven to Germany's fifth-most populous city.

However, The Bulkhead Seat notes, even with these reductions, United will still operate 300 weekly departures from Newark to 36 European cities during peak summer 2026. During the same time period in 2025, the carrier ran 304 flights to 32 different locations.

Four new airports will be serviced starting next spring

As you can see in the figures above, United will fly four less European routes weekly but at the same time extend its footprint to four additional cities.

They are:

  • Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport in Bari, Italy - Four times weekly, beginning May 1
  • Glasgow Airport in Glasgow, Scotland - Once daily, starting May 8
  • Santiago-Rosalía de Castro Airport in A Coruña, Spain - Three weekly flights, beginning May 27
  • Split Saint Jerome Airport in Split, Croatia - Three flights per week, starting April 30

News of these four additional routes was first reported in October.

United Airlines has other changes in the works

United, which ranks second among American air carries and 13th overall in the world according to a recent study, has recently announced a few other new initiatives.

Earlier this month, United and Lyft revealed an upcoming partnership similar to the one the rideshare company has with Delta Air Lines.

Additionally, United will be rolling out a rewards debit card, following in the footsteps of Southwest Airlines.
