The 2026 Jeep Recon Is Rubicon-Ready Off-Road Fun, Electrified
650 horsepower. By any metric, that makes the new Jeep Recon the most powerful Jeep ever built. Of course, there's plenty of grunt available from the new electric-only SUV. It's got two motors - one at each axle - and a 100.5 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack to feed them. Despite the chunky curb weight (and tires), it'll hit 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. And the doors come off.
The Jeep Recon Is An Electric Wrangler At Last
Jeep
The Recon's powertrain is a first for Jeep, and it opens up a world of off-road possibilities. Take the rear drive ratio: 15:1. It's perfect for off-road power delivery, and when coupled with the SUV's electronic locking differential, it'll surely climb any number of tricky routes. Some of the EV's drive modes will also help you navigate off-road terrain, like its dedicated Rock mode. There are also available 33-inch tires and 9.1 inches of ground clearance with a 33.8-degree approach, a 33.1-degree departure, and a 23.3-degree breakover angle.
You'll also get 250 miles of range, or so Jeep claims. Charging won't be quite as quick as the fastest EVs on the market, thanks largely to the Recon's 400-volt architecture. Some EVs are operating with double that, netting greater efficiency and charge speeds. It might explain the Recon's range figures, but the huge 33-inch tires offered on the Moab trim surely aren't helping range.
Jeep's Recon Has An All-New Interior With Removable Doors
Jeep
Jeep has an all-new interior in the Recon, with some interesting new features. Both the rear windows, in addition to the doors and tailgate, can be completely removed. You'll also be able to order one with Jeep's clever Sky One-Touch Power Top (a retractable soft top) found in the Wrangler for open-air off-roading.
The SUV also features a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14.5-inch center infotainment screen. You'll also find the controls there, unfortunately. For off-road use, Jeep has retained physical switchgear for the diff locker and the available drive modes: Rock, Sand/Mud, Snow, Auto, and Sport. Drop the seats and you'll find nearly 66 cubic feet of cargo space with another 3 cubic feet in the EV's frunk. It should be just enough to fit a carry-on. The Recon doesn't have an exact on-sale date just yet, but production will start up in Mexico early next year, and we're betting models will hit dealer showroom floors not too long after. Pricing starts at $65,000 MSRP.
