Investigators Reportedly Make Big Determination in the D4vd Case

0 3

On Tuesday, a new report emerged claiming authorities in Los Angeles now consider singer D4vd to be a “suspect” in the death of teenager Celeste Rivas.

Back on Sept. 8., Rivas' decomposed and dismembered body was found in the trunk of a Tesla belonging to D4vd at an impound lot in Hollywood. For the last two-plus months, police did not consider the 20-year-old performer to be a suspect, but apparently that has changed.

Now, a new report from PEOPLE has some fresh and potentially damaging information for D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.

What we know so far

  • D4vd has multiple connections to Rivas, who had turned 15 days before her body was discovered.
  • Those tie-ins reportedly include a matching tattoo, as well as the fact Rivas’ mother said her daughter was missing for over a year and had been dating a man named David.
  • D4vd reportedly also wrote an unreleased love song with lyrics that referenced a girl named Celeste.
  • TMZ Live reported in October that there was a “consensus” among D4vd’s friends and acquaintances that he and Celeste were a couple and that those “in the scene” also thought Celeste was older, around 19 years old.
  • At one point, police raided a home connected to D4vd as part of their investigation
  • Private investigator Steve Fischer said suspicious items were found at D4vd’s former home, including “farm tools” that did not belong in the residence and could be used “to get rid of a person.”
  • As of now, police have not named an official cause of death, nor have they determined if a crime was committed other than concealment of a body.

Latest report not a pretty one for D4vd

Citing a police source, PEOPLE says authorities believe D4vd "most likely had help dismembering and disposing of the body."

"The source also claims that while Burke has not been charged with a crime, he 'has not been cooperative' in the investigation," PEOPLE wrote.

That second tidbit corroborates an earlier report from ABC7 that indicates D4vd has never cooperated with the police investigation, despite the fact his spokesperson told NBC Los Angeles back in September that the "Romantic Homicide" singer was assisting authorities.

What does this mean?

Now, it's important to remember two things: D4vd has not been charged with a crime, and there has never been an announcement regarding Celeste Rivas' official cause of death.

Yesterday, TMZ's Harvey Levin reported that his sources said police were "not close" to making an arrest in the case.

“They are not close to making an arrest,” Levin said. “We are told it is ‘nowhere imminent’ that an arrest will be made. That doesn’t mean there won’t be one, but there is a chance there won’t be one in the sense that, we don’t even know if this was a homicide. We pushed today to find out and could not get an answer on whether the medical examiner has weighed in and whether the toxicology findings are in.”

Also, Levin made it clear that if Rivas died accidentally, the only crime that may have been committed would be concealment of a body, which is clearly not on the same level as manslaughter or murder.

All of this must be kept in mind. Still, D4vd is reportedly now a suspect, and if the PEOPLE report is accurate, authorities at least believe he had a hand in moving and storing Rivas' body in the trunk of the abandoned Tesla.
