Here Are the Coolest Features on the 2026 Jeep Recon

0 1

The 2026 Jeep Recon is arguably the most feature-packed Jeep SUV to date. Next to the vaunted Wrangler, it promises to be one of the brand's most off-road capable machines, all while doing so with a brand new electric drivetrain, and one that makes 650 horsepower to boot. There are plenty of cool, innovative new features on the Jeep, so we've listed out our favorites below.

The Recon Has Removable Windows

Jeep

You can ditch the Recon's windows if you'd like. Here's how it works: a latch on the SUV's rear quarter glass is very visible. Turn these latches, and the window glass simply comes out. It's fast as hell, and easy too. Hopefully, Jeep will give you somewhere to put these within the Recon, so as to avoid scratching or damaging the class. Automotive-grade glass is extremely strong, but still.

It Ain't A Jeep If The Doors Don't Come Off

Of course, you can also ditch the doors (and thus, more windows) on the Jeep Recon. Arguably, it's a Jeep hallmark and a feature that ought to be included on every Jeep model. We're not quite sure how the process is accomplished on the Recon, but if it's anything like the Wrangler, you'll need a few basic sockets. Expect to lose the mirrors in the process, though Jeep will sell accessory mirrors for doorless driving.

650 Horsepower From A New Electric Drivetrain

Jeep

650 horsepower. By any metric, that makes the new Jeep Recon the most powerful Jeep ever built. It's got two motors - one at each axle - and a 100.5 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack to feed them, plus a whopping 620 lb-ft of torque. The drivetrain is a unique one, at least for Jeep, and will offer a claimed 250 miles of range. It's not quite as much as some off-road SUVs. Rivian offers range figures that start with a "3," but at a premium. Still, the drivetrain is uniquely suited to off-road use, and we're excited to see how it holds up on the trail.

Five Drive Modes For The New Recon

For off-road use, Jeep has retained physical switchgear for the diff locker and the available drive modes: Rock, Sand/Mud, Snow, Auto, and Sport. Each will have its uses, evidently geared towards various terrain types. Jeep says Rock is its newest, available on the Recon Moab trim, "Rock mode tailors throttle pedal response to help manage progress over uneven terrain, enabling a two-pedal driving technique to control the vehicle." It also includes a hill hold feature so you can move from the brake to the throttle pedal without the vehicle moving.

Inside The Recon's Clever Modular Door Panels

Jeep

Jeep will also offer "modular door panels with removable elastic straps and interchangeable cargo solutions" to provide flexible organization inside the Recon. We don't have more specifics right now, but at a glance, the straps will be removable, and Jeep will likely sell accessories that can mount on the above bracketry. It's a cool trick, and one we're hoping Jeep leverages into some clever new features.
