Glen Powell’s Omega Watch Might Be the Biggest Hint He’s the Next James Bond

0 35

Anytime a James Bond actor decides to hang up his tuxedo for good, the franchise's devoted fans go into overdrive speculating about who will take up the mantle. For that reason, there has been a lot of discussion about the future of who will play the iconic character since Daniel Craig's tenure ended with 2021's No Time to Die.

In recent months, there have been many rumors about actors like Tom Holland, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Aaron Pierre, Regé-Jean Page, and Jacob Elordi becoming the next 007. Now, the fact that Glen Powell formed a partnership with a high-end watch brand could feed the idea that he could take the role.

In November 2025, GQ published an article that revealed that Glen Powell had signed a deal with the watch company Omega SA to serve as an ambassador for the Swiss company. In his new role with the high-end watch company, Powell is serving as the face for the latest iteration of Omega's Seamaster Planet Ocean collection. While that is big news for anyone who is interested in the top watch brands in the world, it is also noteworthy because it provides a possible link between Powell and the James Bond franchise.

As GQ's article details, Omega has been the company that has crafted the watches worn by James Bond for more than three decades now. Starting with the production of 1995's Goldeneye, the iconic British spy has worn timepieces made by the Swiss company.

It is also noteworthy that as a part of GQ's article about Powell's Omega deal, the actor told the outlet that he has loved James Bond as a character for decades. In fact, the Chad Powers star even revealed that when he was a kid, he created a 007-themed user name for himself. “My screen name was GlenMan007." Powell also went on to briefly describe how much he adored Bond when he was young. “I loved James Bond so much.”

Of course, the fact that Powell loves James Bond and he formed an official partnership with Omega is far from proof that the actor will portray the beloved movie spy character. That said, given that it can feel like Powell is being sought after for every major role in Hollywood at the moment, any link between him and an iconic film franchise is bound to feed the rumor mill.

Why Glen Powell Is Unlikely To Be the Next James Bond Despite His Omega Watch Deal

Even though Glen Powell's Omega deal could be seen as compelling evidence that he might be the next James Bond, there are three reasons why ultimately that seems very unlikely to happen. First off, when GQ asked Powell if his watch deal meant he would become the next 007, he didn't mince words. "Absolutely not." Furthermore, the actor explicitly told the outlet that "the best part" is that people "can love Omega without having to be James Bond.”

The second reason why Powell is unlikely to be the next James Bond is due to a September 2025 Deadline report about the plans for the franchise. After Denis Villeneuve was confirmed to be tapped to helm the next Bond film, the outlet stated that insiders were saying that he would soon be seeking "an unknown" actor for the legendary role.

Finally, the fact that Powell was born in Austin, Texas makes him an unlikely choice to be cast as the beloved British spy. To date, The U.K. has been the birthplace of most Bond actors. While there have been exceptions, since Pierce Brosnan was born in Ireland and George Lazenby stemmed from Australia, the franchise has never cast an American as Bond.
