Classic Games Coming Back to Playstation Plus This Month
Sony had some big news for gamers Wednesday, especially those who love a chance to play a classic on the newest system.
Grand Theft Auto 5 will be available to stream via a Playstation Plus Extra subscription later this month.
Here is a look at all the games set to become available Nov. 18 to stream on the PS4 and PS5:
GTA 5 Set to Stream Again
A dozen years ago, Grand Theft Auto 5 dropped for players with the PS3 and XBOX 360.
It is the seventh game in the iconic series, and it follows three characters -- Franklin, Trevor and Michael -- through an open-world adventure full of mayhem on the streets of Los Santos and Blaine County.
It's been the most successful GTA, selling more than 220 million units according to developer Take 2.
The game has generated more than $1 billion, and it happens to still be the most-recent release as GTA 6 remains in production.
Now it is available to stream again just in time for the holidays.
Tomb Raider, too
Sony also announced users of the PS Plus Premium service will be able to become Lara Croft again via Tomb Raider: Anniversary.
Per Sony, the emulation of a Playstation 2 game “retraces Lara Croft’s original genre-defining adventure — globe-trotting 3rd person action-adventure in pursuit of the legendary Scion artifact.”
It also “delivers a dynamic fluidly and fast Lara Croft, massive environments of stunning visuals, intense combat and game pacing, and an enhanced and clarified original story.”
And That’s Not All
Joining GTA5 on the “PS Extra” tier will be The Talos Principle, Monster Jam Showdown, MotoGP 25, Thank Goodness You’re Here, Pacific Drive, Still Wakes the Deep and Insurgency: Sandstorm.
Already available this month for download by PS Plus subscribers are Stray, EA Sports WRC24, and Totally Accurate Battle Simulator.
Those games can be downloaded until Dec. 1, but they remain playable as long as a user maintains their subscription.
